Councillor Jarrod Bell Announces Re-election Campaign for Jackson's Hill Ward

Sunbury, 22 June 2024 — Councillor Jarrod Bell has officially announced his re-election campaign for the Jackson's Hill Ward in the upcoming Hume City Council elections. Reflecting on his first term, Cr. Bell expressed his gratitude for the trust the community has placed in him and highlighted the significant progress made during his tenure.

"Four years ago, you gave me the greatest honour by electing me to be your voice at Hume City Council. From day one, I haven't taken that opportunity for granted, working hard to deliver on the commitments I made and addressing the issues that matter most to our community," said Cr. Bell.

During his time on the council, Cr. Bell has spearheaded numerous community-focused projects including:

  • Upgrading the BMX track
  • Constructing the multi-deck car park
  • Securing and investing in Jackson's Hill to create an arts and cultural precinct
  • Expanding and improving playgrounds and open spaces
  • Upgrading the synthetic athletics track

"I have fought to invest in Sunbury, in our people, in our businesses, and in our infrastructure. While much has been achieved, there is still more to do. I am more determined than ever to continue fighting hard for our community," Cr. Bell added.

With the recent changes made by the Electoral Commission, dividing Jackson's Creek Ward into smaller wards,

Cr. Bell has decided to run for Jackson's Hill Ward. He plans to accelerate the delivery of essential community projects, including:

  • The urgently needed second indoor sports stadium
  • A fenced playgrounds program to ensure the safety of children
  • An all-weather, all-year 50-meter swimming pool as part of a redeveloped Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre

Cr. Bell emphasized his deep roots in the community, stating, "I know what it's like to live in a growing community. I've lived here my entire life. I know what it takes as a volunteer and as a councillor to get things done."

From now until October, Cr. Bell will continue to serve the entire community, sharing his positive plans for Jackson's Hill Ward and working tirelessly to make Sunbury an even better place to call home.

"Serving this community has been an incredible opportunity.

I am ready for another four years to build on what we have achieved together,

to continue working for Sunbury, and to get more done.

The Master-plan process, which I successfully secured and funded in my current term, has laid the groundwork for these essential upgrades.
